2. This website

When you visit this site or download a file, the web server stores technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested file, browser identifier) in log files to ensure operation and security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after a short time. A cookie named “sprache” remembers the language you chose (one year); without your choice the site follows your browser language. There is no tracking and no third-party services – the fonts are hosted on this server too.

3. The software: no data comes to me

Diktat (app, PC receiver, tablet program) records and recognises speech only on your device. Recordings never leave the device. The recognised text goes only where you send it: to a PC paired by you on your own network, or by email through the mailbox you configure. Apart from this website (download and update check) I operate no server for Diktat and receive no recordings, texts or usage data. There is no account, no advertising and no analytics.

4. Speech model download (Hugging Face)

For speech recognition the app and the tablet program download a Whisper model once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co, Hugging Face Inc., USA). Only the model file is downloaded; as with any download, Hugging Face receives your IP address and technical connection data. No audio and no text is sent. You can also copy the model file onto the device yourself instead.

5. Email sending

If you use the email target, the app or tablet program connects directly to the mail server you entered (SMTP) and sends the text from your mailbox. The terms of your mail provider apply. Your access data are stored only on your device (on Windows encrypted for your user account).

6. Update check (app)

When it starts, and when you tap “check for updates”, the app fetches the file version.json from duko.de to see whether a new version is available. As with any website visit, the server receives your IP address and technical connection data (see section 2); nothing else is sent. If you choose to update, the app downloads the new version from duko.de and Android asks you before installing it.

7. Permissions (app)

• Microphone: only while you record.
• Network and Wi-Fi: model download, finding and pairing your PC on the local network (mDNS/broadcast), sending text to it, email.
• Notifications and background: show a running recording or recognition and announce when a text is ready; after a restart the app sends texts that are still waiting.
• Install apps: only to install a Diktat update you confirmed; Android asks you once for this permission.

Todos, projects, recipients, paired PCs and the last texts are stored only on the phone and are deleted when you uninstall the app. The PC receiver stores received texts in a history on that PC (folder %APPDATA%\Diktat-Empfaenger); you can delete it there.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Since the software sends no data to me, I store no personal data about you beyond the web server logs and any emails you send me.
